Lakers hold on for win at LEC
Eli McLaughlin garnered Burnaby's first eight points to pace the senior A Lakers to a 9-8 victory over the Langley Thunder on Wednesday.
McLaughlin and fellow Laker lefthander Dane Stevens, with the eventual game-winner, tallied four goals apiece for the Burnaby club to claim the first and third stars at the Langley Events Centre, respectively.
The Lakers took a 5-2 first-period lead, but needed all nine goals to hold off the Thunder, which made a late surge, outscoring the visitors 3-1 in the final frame. Zac Boychuk got the victory in goal for the Green and White.
The win improved the Lakers' record to 2-1. The Thunder fell to 0-3.
Burnaby is back at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre to take on the New Westminster Salmonbellies on Tuesday, June 7. Game time is 7:45 p.m.
